It’s hard to sum up the seachange that the beauty industry is undergoing better than that. The sector, worth £17 billion in the UK alone, employs more than one million people and has proved recession-proof in recent years: retail sales in the UK beauty market grew 15.5% between 2008 and 2013 0.2.

Driving demand is not the big challenge for brands.
